Handbook for Revolutionaries Part II zine – columns

August 18, 2010

I’ve had this zine by Dennis Lyxzén (Refused) for many a long year: I always go back to it because I like the columns, and there’s a cool interview with Randy, and a bunch of other quasi-political stuff that you just don’t see in zines anymore. It’s hard to put an exact date on it, but judging from the adverts, record reviews and scene reports, it’s from 1997 or 1998.  I don’t have Part I, and they never did a third issue, which is a shame as it was going to be the ‘sex’ issue – something that always needs more coverage in punk subculture.

Scanned the columns because they’re still interesting. Vique Martin’s writing was quite divisive at the time, she was also writing for Fracture and a whole lot of (male) morons really didn’t seem to like it.  To each their own, but I have always loved her writing: it’s human.  And she put out some great stuff on Simba too, especially the Ink and Dagger/Le Shok split.  A woman after my own heart.
